Force Single Instance Mode in Windows (Audacious 3.8.2)

Added by Pascual Lucero almost 7 years ago

Hello,

Its been a long time since the last time I posted here and the main reason is that previously I was an Audacious user in Linux (using Lubuntu or Linux Mint) and Windows and now only a Windows 10 user. I havent experienced problems for a long time, but now there is a problem.

I don't remember when was the last time I requested to force Audacious to use single instance mode in Windows. The reason is that Audacious is my default music player and usually I double click files in Windows Explorer to listen to music and those are open in Audacious. So I don't want to open a new instance every time I play files that way.

In Audacious 3.7 the single instance was forced in Windows, I just recently realized in Windows 10 and the latest version it is not woring. Perhaps there are people who need multiple instances for Audacious, but it would be nice if you can choose that in the settings or some .ini file.

Thanks for your attention and your excellent program, my favourite from a long, long time ago.

Works for me. Can you identify the commit that first caused the regression for you?

Actually I am not sure. It has to be something in Audacious 3.8.2 (I used the Windows installer for a change instead of the zip file), otherwise I would have realized the problem some time ago (as Audacious is my default music app in Windows 10, I use it frequently). I realized the problem this weekend and its been a while using Audacious 3.8.2, so I am not sure why it is happening. The strange thing is that today it is working fine (yesterday it opened two instances) and I am trying to imitate the process I did yesterday without success so far (not easy to replicate because I did a major edition in my collection of music files).
