Audacious and Plasmashell CPU usage

Running Audacious 3.91 under Arch Linux and KDE plasmashell. It is efficient memory-wise, but it consumes 25-50% of my CPU.
Does anyone know a way to correct this? Switching from qt-5 interface to Winamp makes no difference.
