Redmine Audacious - Bug #721 (Rejected): tags not updated until folder renamedhttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/7212017-05-03T10:32:24ZLiviu Androniclivml@opmbx.org

I seem to encounter this issue with FLAC files:
If I modify the FLAG tags in EasyTAG, save the files, click on Refresh library in Audacious; however the tags will still not show as updated in Audacious.

I tried doing this with Audacious closed, opening/closing Audacious, to no apparent success. The only thing that will force the Library to update the tags seems to be renaming the folder containing the FLAC files.

Would there be a way to make sure that updated tags are automatically detected? (Using GIT code.)
Audacious - Feature #715 (Rejected): dynamic systray iconhttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/7152017-04-01T21:24:17ZLiviu Androniclivml@opmbx.org

This perhaps one of the most visible issues (for me) in day-to-day usage.

Currently Audacious uses a static icon in the systray, whether it is in Play, Pause or Stop mode. It happens often that I'm confused if something is currently playing (say, silent passage at start / end of track) and I end up doing several rounds of Play / Pause until I figure out what's going on. This is especially true when Audacious is closed to systray.

By comparison, when playing Sonata uses:

when paused:

and when stopped, the standard icon:

It would be very useful if Audacious included similar icons and displayed them dynamically depending on its current state.
Audacious - Bug #707 (Rejected): incomplete album in Searchhttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/7072017-02-27T09:00:53ZLiviu Androniclivml@opmbx.org

I have an album that seems to confuse the Search Tool.

As you can see, Reservoir Dogs is broken in two, and even that doesn't account for all the songs in the album. So when I double-click on Reservoir Dogs I get a playlist of only 8 songs, instead of 16.

Here's a screenshot of the same folder in EasyTAG:

Audacious - Feature #706 (Rejected): make c-menu play/pause buttons into a togglehttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/7062017-02-26T23:46:53ZLiviu Androniclivml@opmbx.org

Currently the systray c-menu has both a Play and a Pause button.

It would be neater if the two were combined into a single Play/Pause toggle, similarly to how this is already on the main toolbar.
Audacious - Feature #705 (Closed): re-arrange playback controlshttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/7052017-02-26T23:36:13ZLiviu Androniclivml@opmbx.org

A couple more minor UI requests... I have always been a fan of Sonata for minimalistic and elegant interface. (Unfortunately though they use MPD, and I keep getting bogged down with its configs.)

I would like to make some very minor suggestions that would, I believe, make sense for Audacious.

Sonata's buttons arrangement is the only one in my experience that does not make me think twice how the playback buttons should be arranged, generally. They're positioned very intuitively:
and <next> are at the extremes (left and right), in the middle comes the play/pause combo followed by the stop button. This is an arrangement that makes sense, to me at least.
So if look at the current layout in Audacious,
!Screenshot_2017-02-20_09-10-07.png!
this request would boil down to moving the <next> button to the right of <stop>. Incidentally, this would make the toolbar layout consistent with the systray icon c-menu:
!Screenshot_2017-02-26_23-31-01.png!

Audacious - Feature #703 (Closed): allow for hiding the Record iconhttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/7032017-02-20T09:25:23ZLiviu Androniclivml@opmbx.org

I personally find the Record icon to be largely esoteric in the context of playing back music. (I can definitely see usecases for it though!)

In this sense I would suggest to allow users to hide this icon. Either by hiding it automatically when the Recording Settings is unchecked, or making it as a plugin whereas when disabled the icon is hidden from the toolbar.
Audacious - Feature #702 (Closed): add separators to toolbarhttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/7022017-02-20T09:16:15ZLiviu Androniclivml@opmbx.org

I find myself confused by the layout of the toolbar.

To me there seems to be a logical separation between "Add files" and the player controls, as well as between the player controls and the record icon. So in the screenshot attached, I would suggest interspersing separators between icons 3 and 4, and between 7 and 8.

This should improve legibility of the toolbar.
Audacious - Feature #701 (Closed): improve legibility of search resultshttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/7012017-02-18T19:36:58ZLiviu Androniclivml@opmbx.org

I find the results in the Search Tool very hard to read (see screenshot).

Perhaps this could be improved by some appropriate formatting, say bold for album names. Or maybe even a different color, suitably chosen. Alternatively you could include a small icon indicating album right next to an album, and another indicating artist next to artist, etc.

Bottom line is that I like Audacious but have a hard time with the Search Tool which I use extensively.
