Redmine Audacious - Feature #1195 (Rejected): Ability to copy filepath in Song Info dialoguehttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/11952022-10-06T22:55:05ZDaniel Bedrenko

Hello, thank you for this great media player! A constant pet peeve of mine is that the the "Copy" action on the filepath of a song copies it as an escaped URI instead of simply copying the filepath as it is shown.

https://i.imgur.com/hINknBZ.png

So instead of it copying to clipboard:

~/Music/chiptune/keygenmusic/KEYGENMUSiC MusicPack/TFT/TFT - Feeding Frenzy 2 crk.xm

it copies:

file:///home/danb/Music/chiptune/keygenmusic/KEYGENMUSiC%20MusicPack/TFT/TFT%20-%20Feeding%20Frenzy%202%20crk.xm

Which cannot be used with any basic shell commands or file managers. It's even worse with non-latin characters!

If someone does indeed have a want for the URI, we could support both ways by making the filepath selectable text widget, i.e. you can highlight the filepath with the cursor and copy it.
Audacious - Feature #609 (Closed): Allow adding files to other than playing playlist via D-Bushttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/6092015-12-31T15:47:38ZDaniel Bedrenko

Prior to v3.7 the behaviour was to enqueue files to the playlist currently selected in the interface, rather than the currently playing playlist. The former is much better as I can manage and manipulate my playlists without having to interrupt the playback of my music.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Create "Playlist1" with 1 song. And "Playlist2" with no songs.
2) Double-click on the song of "Playlist1" so it starts playing.
3) Click on "Playlist2" tab so that this playlist is selected and visible.
4) Add any music file with `audacious -e /path/to/file.mp3`.

Result:
"file.mp3" is added to "Playlist1"

Expected result:
"file.mp3" is added to "Playlist2".

PS: Thank you for your work on the best music player on Linux. Been loving it for the past 4 years :)
Audacious - Bug #504 (Closed): Segfault on Saving Playlist with bad locale file metadatahttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/5042015-01-22T22:17:38ZDaniel Bedrenko

Steps to reproduce:

0) In File -> Settings -> Playlist -> uncheck "Do not load metadata [...]"
1) Open the attached audio file
2) Go to Playlist -> Export and save the playlist "test.audpl"
or
2.1) Just exit audacious (this automatically saves the open playlist tabs).

This crashes the program (thus many things like any config changes or playlist changes are lost). Sometimes if I load some of these bad files after ~5 mins it crashes by itself (does Audacious periodically save the tab playlists?).

When this track is added audacious spits out this in STDERR (I guess it's the track's title metadata):
Cannot convert from locale (UTF-8): L.

Here is the backtrace:

Before Audacious moved (see #173) from libsidplay to libsidplayfp for SID playback in v3.4, the plugin could be configured with various settings. One of these options was to specify, for SID files whose song-lengths are unknown, the maximum time that the track should play. For screenshots of the GUI preferences window see XMMS-SID (which I hear was written by the same person as the Audacious SID plugin).

This is an important feature, because it makes playback of SID tunes--outside of the HSVC compilation (which provides a text file, "Songlengths.txt")--extremely inconvenient. The "Preferences" window for the old SID plugin had a lot of options, but I think this one is the most essential. It would be great if at least this could be set in a config file, if not a GUI Prefs window.

In the latest version (3.5.2) there is a line in "sid/xs_config.cc" that sets `xs_cfg.playMaxTime = 150` (seconds), but this is not respected. I've attached a SID file which demonstrates this, i.e. it doesn't stop playing after 2m30s.

While this is being added I wrote a hacky BASH script (attached) that detects and controls SID playback so that a song isn't played for too long.

PS: Thanks for all the effort you put into this player! It's been my favourite for years and I love it :)
Audacious - Feature #158 (Closed): Search Tool - Search by Genrehttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/1582012-08-05T10:41:25ZDaniel Bedrenko

Hello, since v3.3 it's no longer possible to search the library by genre (i.e. in Search Tool, typing "Rock" would return "Genre: Rock" and then you could double-click that to create a playlist of all Rock songs in your library).

I like to have tabs for each genre of music, and when I add music of a particular genre to the library, I would like to easily update that genre's tab by searching for that genre. Importing/Exporting playlist files everytime or sorting library by genre and manually selecting the songs everytime is rather cumbersome.

Ty devs, for this awesome XMMS successor :)
