Redmine Audacious - Bug #699 (Rejected): [Qt] Proper .desktop file and correct window metadata missing http://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/6992017-01-31T00:30:57ZQ. P.

Hi,

adding a KDE Plasma icon-only task manager launcher for the Qt interface of Audacious is not possible.

The KDE devs said "[...] The application author has to install a proper .desktop file and mark up the window with correct metadata so we can map to it [...]", see:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=375744

So, could you please do that?

Regards
Audacious - Feature #424 (Rejected): Show column headers for length, entry number, etc.http://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/4242014-03-30T16:05:54ZQ. P.

Dear Audacious developer(s),

the column headers of length, entry numer, track, queue position and bitrate do not show up.

Tested with audacious-3.4.3a-win32 and audacious-3.5-beta1-win32.

Could you please fix that?

It would be much appreciated.

Regards
Audacious - Feature #415 (Rejected): Please reduce amount of icons in GTK+ UIhttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/4152014-03-08T03:08:13ZQ. P.

Hello,

as mentioned in the other issue #414, i just had a look at Audacios 3.4.1 inside a daily build of Ubuntu GNOME 14.04.

I noticed the following:

On Ubuntu GNOME 14.04, using the default GTK+ theme "Adwaita", Audacious is using a lot less icons than Audacious in Win32.

This looks way better IMHO.

Audacious Win32 uses a lot more icons everywhere and looks much more crowded because of that.

Now, which icons do i mean? Some examples:

When you go to Audacious -> Menu bar -> Files, then there is a icon in front of each menu entry, like Open Files..., Open URL..., Add Files... and so on...

In Ubuntu GNOME, those icons are not there, which looks much clearer IMHO.

Another example:

When you close a playlist tab in Audacious, a confirmation dialog comes up, asking if you really want to remove the playlist.

Then there are two buttons ("Cancel"/"Remove" or "Yes"/"No", depending on Audacious version). In Ubuntu GNOME, it's just those buttons. But in Win32 the buttons have icons on them, which look kinda bad, IMHO.

Or when you right click on a track inside a playlist, a menu comes up as well and the menu entries have icons in front of them in Win32. In Ubuntu GNOME they do not.

I would prefer if the Win32 version would not have those icons, just like in Ubuntu GNOME. They make everything look crowded.

So, could you please remove them?

It would be much appreciated.

I'm still not quite sure though if this is something that you, the Audacious developer(s) can do, or if it has something to do with the different GTK+ themes being used (Adwaita vs. Windows), which would mean i would have to ask the GTK+ / GNOME developers?

Regards
Audacious - Support #414 (Closed): Win32: Audacious GTK UI is missing some icons (kind of)http://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/4142014-03-08T01:48:54ZQ. P.

Hello,

I noticed that audacious-3.5-alpha1-win32 uses different icons compared to audacious-3.4.3a-win32.

I noticed that /etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini has been added to audacious-3.5-alpha1-win32, which reads:

[Settings]
gtk-icon-theme-name=gnome

Deleting this file (or that line inside it) brings back the icons from audacious-3.4.3a-win32. However, some of the icons are missing.

Why is that? And is it supposed to be like that?

Hello,

foobar2000 has a "Show balloon tooltip on song change" option, see "2. Foobar2000 built-in feature" on the following page:

http://winamp2foobar.blogspot.de/2008/09/nice-popup-in-corner.html

Could you please implement something like that for Audacious Win32 as well?

It would be much appreciated.

Regards
Audacious - Bug #412 (Closed): Win32: Audacious GTK UI is very laggyhttp://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/4122014-03-08T01:33:20ZQ. P.

Hello,

the GTK UI of audacious-3.4.3a-win32 and audacious-3.5-alpha1-win32 is very laggy when resizing the Audacious window or resizing a docked plugin for example.

Also, scrolling through a playlist is very laggy and even looks a bit like as if it would be tearing.

Tested on Win8.1 x64.

Could you please do something about that?

It would be much appreciated.

Regards
Audacious - Bug #411 (Closed): Win32: Audacious GTK UI is using wrong font (workaround inside)http://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/4112014-03-08T01:27:54ZQ. P.

Hello,

the GTK UI of audacious-3.4.3a-win32 and audacious-3.5-alpha1-win32 is using a wrong font by default.

Why wrong? Because it's not the native Windows UI font.

The native Windows UI Font is "Segoe UI" @ 9pt.

I was able to fix this issue by editing /etc/gtk-3.0/settings.ini to look like this:

[Settings]
gtk-icon-theme-name = gnome
gtk-font-name = Segoe UI 9

This makes Audacious use the correct font inside the GTK UI, which looks a heck of a lot better / more native.

Therefore i suggest to add this line to future releases of Audacious Win32 or, if possible, to fix the actual root cause of this issue.

PS:

Before you say "But the native UI font in Windows XP is "Tahoma" @ 8pt":

In just a few days, Windows XP will be EOL, at least AFAIK. And the native UI font in all Windows releases after Windows XP is "Segoe UI" @ 9pt.

Dear Audacious developer(s),

could you please add/use Windows Taskbar Extensions for Audacious Win32?

So that it would be like this:

http://wintense.com/plugins/foo_w7shell

Regards
Audacious - Support #409 (Rejected): Please provide official Audacious updates through the Ubuntu...http://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/4092014-03-06T00:52:31ZQ. P.

Dear Audacious developer(s),

could you please provide official Audacious updates through the Ubuntu Software Center?

The current Ubuntu release 13.10 is still using the old Audacious 3.4.0:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/saucy/audacious
https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/saucy/audacious/

and the current Ubuntu LTS release 12.04 is using the even older Audacious 3.2.1:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/audacious
https://apps.ubuntu.com/cat/applications/precise/audacious/

even though Audacious is already at 3.4.3 (or even at 3.5-alpha1).

There is a Launchpad bug which complains about outdated applications on Ubuntu, see:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/578045

and one comment suggests to ask the application developer(s) to provide application updates through the Ubuntu Software Center, see:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/578045/comments/52

So, that's what I am doing hereby:

Could you please provide official Audacious updates through the Ubuntu Software Center?

It would be much appreciated.

Regards
