Coming in 3.2: music library plugin
Added by John Lindgren about 13 years ago
Integrated in the GTK interface in Audacious 3.2 will be a plugin that allows indexing an entire collection or "library" of music. The "library" is really just another playlist, but you can update it to find new music in the collection with a single click.
So what can you do with this new feature? You can:
- Search for a particular album and immediately start playing it. For example, I type "emporer" and press Enter. Then, I sit back and revel in the sound of Beethoven's Fifth Piano Concerto.
- Search for a particular artist and create a new playlist with songs by that artist. For example, I type "mo", right-click on "Artist: Mozart, Wolfgang" and select "Create Playlist". Now I have a playlist titled "Mozart, Wolfgang" displaying all my Mozart tracks.
We will try to release 3.2-alpha1 as a preview by Christmas. For the impatient, you can always check out the current Git tree.

Thanks. That should make adding files more convenient and give people less reason to not use audacious :P

It looks interesting. I look forward to trying it.
I may now be too late to the party, but I've thought about suggesting that my project, Select-o-Magic 3000, be added to Audacious.
It's a unique, criteria based, playlist creator, and already works with Audacious.
