Audacious on Windows 7 getting new skins to work?
Added by Phil W almost 6 years ago
Hi
Trying Audacious on Win 7. I drop skin packages into skin browser window, this does not work. putting them into audacious/share/audacious/skins does not work. Converting the .wsz file to a zip file and putting it into the skins directory puts a listing for the skin without a thumbnail view in settings/skin but will not load the skin.
Any one have any idea how to fix this please?

Loading custom skins on Windows is broken (it's not just you).
There are two problems:
1) The image loading DLL wasn't built with support for .bmp files.
2) Audacious is trying to use a separate "unzip" program to unzip the .wsz file, and this program generally isn't installed on Windows.
Number 1 is easy to fix. I'm uploading a DLL here with added support for .bmp files; replace the existing one in audacious/bin with it.
Number 2 will take a little longer to fix (I'll open a bug report for it) but you can work around it by renaming the .wsz file to a .zip and then extracting it to a new folder under audacious/share/audacious/Skins. You should end up with audacious/share/audacious/Skins/MySkin/main.bmp and so on. If there's an extra or missing folder level in the path, the skins won't load.
Please let me know if that still doesn't work.
