Playlist with custom start/end time per song
Added by Pinta Silgo over 2 years ago
Hi,
I have the unusual choice of using VLC as my music player because it's the only one I know that supports playlists with custom start/end times per file. I need this mainly for live tracks not properly cut, with long times before the song to start of after its ending. And I don't want to change original files.
I loaded my .xspf VLC playlist with Audacious, but as expected it doesn't honor the VLC-specific start-time and stop-time tags (VLC doesn't have a GUI for those tags, I write them directly in playlist code).
Do Audacious support any type of playlist with custom start/end time per song?
Thanks.

Yes, start/stop times are supported through cue sheets.

Thanks. But some issues:
- Audacious can't save CUE playlists: https://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/877.
- How stop time is supported? I was able to set start time by using "INDEX 01", but how about stop time?

Also it looks cue sheet supports almost no tags per track. Like album and comment. Audacious needs to read them from file tracks, but this is not practical for large playlists as it may need to parse thousands of files. Those basic tags should be stored in the playlist itself.
