Missing support for cyrillic fonts
Added by Manfred Müller over 11 years ago
Dear community,
I use the player version 3.2.3 on a german Linux Mint 14. Some mp3-files have tags in Russian language. On the plas list they are presented properly, but the current played song cannot be displayed properly, I get question marks instead of Russian text. Please see attached screenshot.
I assume this is a bug? Was it already known and is it fixed in higher versions of Audacious? Or should I submit it as a bug?

No. Why do people always assume that behavior they don't expect or like is a bug?
You have configured Audacious to emulate Winamp 2, which was released close to 15 years ago, before anyone had heard of Unicode. Hence the fonts embedded in Winamp 2 skins only have glyphs for ASCII characters. If you had looked briefly through the Audacious menus, you would have found the option "View -> Interface Preferences -> Fonts -> Use bitmap fonts (supports ASCII only)". You can uncheck that option to get Cyrillic characters to display, at the expense of making some Winamp skins look ugly.
