delete media library - lubuntu 14.04

Added by Hans Dampf almost 10 years ago

Hi!
I am new to audacious and a moderately advanced novice to linux.
As audacious comes preinstalled on lubuntu 14.04 i make myself familiar with it and think, we will get along quite well.
But i really need help with the media library.
I have fed audacious with music from a folder on an extrernal (ntfs) HDD. Then i copied the "music" folder to an internal (ext4) hdd and again made audacious read the data into its database.

Now i want audacious' database to ignore - better to "forget" - the previous input data from the external HDD (which i treat as a mere backup). Sounds trivial but it's not. I tried google search, this forum's search, apt-get purge...

I appreciate any help.

Thank you

All you need to do (and it sounds like you have already done this) is to change the folder that is shown in the drop-down list at the bottom of the Search Tool and then click on the refresh button. The Search Tool will update the Library playlist so that it contains all the song files in that folder and no others.

Does that answer the question, or have I misunderstood something?

lol

Yes, we understood and yes, i did what you recommend.
But in the playlist column "artist" it always displayed "music", which is the folders name on the internal hdd. This confused me, beacause after i had input only the data from the external hdd, the column "artist" showed the name of the artist and not the name of the folder. Therefore i thought, there might be some kind of "interference" or what so ever. Now i realized, when i play a song or only hover the mouse pointer over it, the column "artist" gets updated correctly.

So i guess, everything is fine. Only my approach was too circuitous.

Thank you! ;)

That's odd. Try refreshing the playlist (F5).

I tried refreshing of a playlist AND
now every artist is called "music" again!

Don't mind, i can live with it. ;)
