Audacious Kubuntu Problem

Added by Ade C over 9 years ago

Hi, Iam using the latest Audacious with Kubuntu 14.04 x64 and I have a little problem when double clicking an associated file to open with Audacious. In the task bar at the top (circled in white in the picture) i get these opening and staying there for about 10 seconds before disappearing. If i happen to open 2 or 3 files (as shown in the picture) i get 3 of these.
Is there anyway to stop this from happening and just opening the file without it showing in the task bar please?

Many thanks

You should open a bug report with KDE. It looks like KDE is expecting to receive a startup notification [1] from client instances of Audacious, in spite of the fact that audacious.desktop does not list "StartupNotify=true".

@ ade

go to "system settings > application and system notifications".

then go to "launch feedback" section. uncheck "enable taskbar notification" . alternatively you can reduce "startup indication timeout" to 5 seconds instead of 30(default). then it will notify for short time and disappear.

@ john

"startupnotify=true" probably applies for systray or libnotify popups. nothing to do with the taskbar widget.

Do you have anything to back up that statement, or are you just flat-out calling me a liar?

whoa chill pill. i said 'probably'. i m just a beginner. you are right though. "true" or "false" does alter how taskbar widget behaves.

but if there is no startupnotify entry at all, or is hashed off , it behaves like "startupnotify=true" by default.

here, have a truth-certificate and a lollipop :)

i am a mere mortal sir. calling you flat-out liar is way beyond my power. please accept my apologies.

Apology accepted, and thanks for doing the research. Assuming "startupnotify=true" does seem wrong on the part of KDE, though the spec leaves that up to the implementation.

If absent, a reasonable handling is up to implementations (assuming false, using StartupWMClass, etc.).
