Random unpausing using jack
Added by Johan Straarup almost 10 years ago
I'm not sure this is directly a problem with audacious (3.5.1), but it is affecting it at least.
I am experiencing that audacious unpauses (starts playing) at seemingly random occasions, after switching to jack output.
When it starts playing, the play icon doesn't switch, and have to press it twice to pause playing.
I think this message from qjackctl is related to the problem:
subgraph starting at audacious-jack_10042_001 timed out (subgraph_wait_fd=24, status = 0, state = Triggered, pollret = 0 revents = 0x0)
pp: cannot clean up byte from graph wait fd (Resource temporarily unavailable)
It also seems to have some sort of relation to other applications using jack, as the frequency of this error happening, seems to increase with multiple audio streams.
But it is not exclusive to using other audio streams, as it unpaused at 5am this morning - brutally waking me up with loud music.
The system messages didn't report anything other than lots of failed attempts from someone trying to gain access to my ssh daemon.
So it's possible it is load related.
Can anyone point me in the direction to solve this problem?
Better jack settings maybe? Using 128 frames, 3 periods, 192k sample rate, priority 80 right now.

Sorry it woke you up. Audacious 3.6 will have a completely new JACK plugin, so that might fix the problem.

Thank you for your reply (and compassion to my sleep cycle :-)).
Based on your indication of a possible solution, I have installed the git master version.
I am currently testing it - and so far, so good. We will see in a couple of days if it's gone.

It is fixed now :-) The new JACK plugin did the trick.
Thank you for your help.
And also thanks to you - and the the rest of the developers - for writing this beautiful piece of software.
It is really good!
Now I am looking forward to the QT version :-)
