Sound suddenly started skipping
Added by Simon Forrest almost 13 years ago
There were some updates earlier today for Ubuntu and it seems to have started just after that. I tried renicing but it hasn't helped. Restarted as well but that was no help. Any ideas what I can do to find the problem?
Thanks
Simon

You can try a different output plugin or a larger buffer size.

This issue only seems to occur with the Pulseaudio plugin. Adjusting the buffer made no difference, but switching the output to ALSA solved the problem. Thank you very much for your advice.

What version of Audacious are you using? There is a change in 3.2.1 that should help with skipping with PulseAudio.

Funnily enough this is 3.2.1 but I've never had this issue before. I still have excellent playback with ALSA.

Perhaps there is more tweaking that needs to be done with the PulseAudio plugin. The ALSA plugin had to go through many iterations to get it to behave well on the various and sundry sound cards out there.
