Audacious Icon disappearing

Added by Ade C over 9 years ago

Hi, Ive just updated to 3.6 and now my icon in the taskbar keeps disappearing. I'm using KDE and can only get it to reappear when reinstalling it again. Pain! Even opening audacious from the programs doesnt show the player at all but its in the process list as running and plays music but no icon or player.

Does Audacious' config file contain "show_interface=FALSE"?
Maybe this bug report is related: http://redmine.audacious-media-player.org/issues/512

RE: Audacious Icon disappearing - Added by Ade C over 9 years ago

The config file doesnt contain anything like that at all. In fact now audacious isnt playing anything even though its the default program for music files. Double click and nothing even in the process list

What is the output if you start Audacious from the command line? To get more output use "audacious -V".

Also what happens with a clean configuration?

mv ~/.config/audacious ~/.config/audacious.old

RE: Audacious Icon disappearing - Added by Ade C over 9 years ago

from command line

ade@ade-G41D3C:/media/Downloads$ audacious
ERROR plugin-init.cc:132 [start_single]: No output plugin found.
(Did you forget to install audacious-plugins?)
Aborted

Also
ade@ade-G41D3C:/media/Downloads$ sudo apt-get install audacious-plugins
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
audacious-plugins is already the newest version.
0 to upgrade, 0 to newly install, 0 to remove and 0 not to upgrade.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling too.

Moving config file does the same

ade@ade-G41D3C:/media/Downloads$ mv ~/.config/audacious ~/.config/audacious.old
ade@ade-G41D3C:/media/Downloads$ audacious
ERROR plugin-init.cc:132 [start_single]: No output plugin found.

Do the versions of audacious and audacious-plugins match? And from where did you get version 3.6?
We cannot help if you do not provide enough information.

RE: Audacious Icon disappearing - Added by Thomas Lange over 9 years ago

The path "/usr/local/lib/" implies that you compiled Audacious from source.
But you forgot to remove it before installing the packages from the PPA or Ubuntu repository.

Remove the files with "make uninstall" and then make sure Audacious is installed together with audacious-plugins.

Thanks, that worked great!
