Audacious Portable for Windows - Config Files

Added by Martin Xavier over 8 years ago

Hello. I've been running Audacious on Linux for years and recently discovered the "portable" version for Windows. However, it isn't portable from one computer to another...the settings are not kept within the portable folder. Is there a way to have the config files stored within the portable folder?

Thanks.

Not currently.

Edit: Though you can just copy AppData/Local/audacious to another computer if you do want to transfer the settings. That's assuming all your music files are in the same locations on the new computer ...

Hi John. Thanks for your reply. I just wanted to keep the GUI config settings from one computer to the next. Not a big deal.

Although my main system is Linux, Audacious runs great on Windows computers. From time to time, I'm on a computer where I can't leave a copy installed.

Thanks for the info.

Hi Martin. You can solve your problem with a small utility from NirSoft (AdvancedRun).
Create a new folder 'Data', 'User' or another one in audacious folder. In AdvancedRun change the environment variable 'USERPROFILE' to point to the folder you have created and choose the option 'Merge the following e.v. with the system variables'. The config files will be stored in that folder and audacious wil leave no traces in system. You can also save that config file for further utilization with advancedrun.
