How do I make audacious remember that the effects plugin must stay active?
Added by Jonathan Archer over 5 years ago
In principle I use the Crystalizer plugin on Audacious. But after every restart of the computer Audacious simply forgets that I've enabled that plugin and I have to activate it manually. So, is there any way to force Audacious remember my setting and keep that plugin active even after restart of the computer?
In case it matters - the OS is Mint 18.3 x64.

Audacious should remember which effects are active if you allow it to exit cleanly. I can't tell you exactly what is wrong on your system, but one thing you can try is closing Audacious manually before restarting. It may be that your desktop environment isn't closing applications properly, and is just letting them die from an X11 error when the X server exits.

I found out what the problem was, namely - Synaptic didn't apply all recommended dependencies, so I uninstalled Audacious and then installed it with the recommended dependencies. Now it works perfectly and remembers the effects plugin.
