"Track" doesn't solve the problem though. In fact, it's arguably worse than "song" since it implies that the audio came from a phonograph record or a CD. Many people use neither of those media nowadays.
Some people also play "clips", "streams", "episodes", "tunes", "pieces", "movements", etc. I don't think there's one single word that covers all the possible cases. We just have to pick one. "Song" has the advantage of being fairly universally understood, and easily translated.

The most technically accurate term I can think of would be "segment", but that's so generic that it would probably just be confusing.

I like the word "record". The term "phonograph record" has the new technology as a sub-class of the older idea: the record.
