fsync() during Audacious Play
Added by Colin Yallop about 12 years ago
Using latencytop I see periodic use of fsync() when audacious 3.3.3 is replaying music.
The fsync() latency can be as high as 200ms replaying from ssd using lubuntu 12.10.
I see bug fix #193 dealt with fsync() when replaying from rom but as we are only reading from ssd or hdd do we need fsync()activity from Audacious ?.

What files are being fsync()? We only fsync() if the file is writable.

I can't see exactly the files but I see the periodic large fsync() latencies when playing wav file from ssd. Playing wav files from audio cd fsync() latencies occur less often and then only a few ms.
See attached latencytop screenshot.

You're wasting your time and ours asking here about fsync(); it's not called from anywhere in Audacious any more. Look at your screenshot more closely. The 141.3 ms fsync() came from upowerd, not Audacious.
