Organize music library by Artist/Album/Genre ecc
Added by Forty _ over 11 years ago
Hi all,
I'm finding a way to organize the Audacious' music library (seprating by artists, albums, genres, years), like some other players do (eg foobar200, Banshee, Winamp 5)
But I can't find any option or plugin...
I'm asking this because the Search Tool isn't too cushy for me...!
Thanks in advance

Audacious isn't built for what you ask for. You'll be better off using one of the players you mentioned.

Ok I understand...
What a pity, Audacious is however the best player I've tried on Linux

Audacious isn't a library-based player (nor does it try to be).
The closest you'll get to that is by loading your whole library in one playlist and using the sort. Sort by album, track number, date, and artist, in that order.

If you're a Linux user, please try Select-o-Magic 3000
http://som3000.sourceforge.net/
It builds playlists based on all the selection criteria you mention (and more) and can send the playlists directly to Audacious or any of several other audio players.
If you do try it, like it or not, please give me feedback - hardly anyone ever does. :)
