Add Music Collection fails
Added by J G almost 13 years ago
Hi,
when I try to add my Music Collection (Folder with Subdirectories including ~3000 *.mp3 files) nothing happens.
I tried
1. Drag&Drop Folder on Playlist
2. Choose Folder in new Library Plugin (Main Window - botton left) and click refresh
3. Click on "add folder" icon in main window, select directory, click "add"
None of these options have an effect.
I use Archlinux with Audacious 3.2.
Any suggestions what could be the reason for this?
Thanks in advance!

All that comes to mind is to make sure you have the MP3 plugin (mpg123.so) installed and enabled. In Arch this means making sure you have libmpg123 installed since it is only listed as an optional dependency.

Actually, the plugin is called madplug.so.

Thank for your help! Installing the package "mpg123" out of extra-Repository helped. I'm just wondering why this is optional...

You should probably ask the maintainer of the Arch audacious package why it is optional, but I'm sure it's because the mp3 plugin is optional in building audacious and not everyone uses mp3 or wants it installed.
