It does not play MIDI files on Windows.

Hello,
I discovered that Audacious does not play MIDI files on Windows.
It happens with the binary released here in the download page and also with my personal build, so it seems a reproducible problem.
For a quick test, just try to open a MID file from c:\windows\media, you can find some there.
I do not know if it happens also on other platforms or even if I'm doing a mistake somewhere; I attached a screenshot with the error message displayed on screen.

The MIDI plugin is not currently built in the Windows release.

It works!
Evidently, I'm too stupid to be able to copy all the DLLs in the right place...
BTW... is there an "official" location in Audacious where the SoundFonts should be stored?

No, there's no "official" location.
