audacious - invisible fonts

Added by Manu Dumitrescu over 10 years ago

Hello,

I installed Audacious on OpenSuse 13.1 from package repository and I also compiled the source code (audacious-3.4.2).
In both cases, the Winamp interface has the font color the same as the background color, I cannot see anything in the playlist or in the main window. I tried to change the skin and i searched some xmms skins but the result is the same, the fonts are invisible.
If I move the mouse over the playlist, i can see that the mp3s are loaded there. I've looked for error messages in the var/log/messages but nothing looks suspicious. The gtk+ interface is ok.
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance.

I experience the same issue after installing Audacious (doesn't matter if I install V3.4.2 from source or some other version from a repository) on OpenSuse 13.1, and additionally I am not able to see any buttons or other elements in the Winamp-Interface, there's just background. Audacious works fine anyway, but you just don't see, what you're doing ;-)
I have no problems using the GTK-Interface.

What version of GTK+ comes with OpenSUSE 13.1?

I have the same problem in sabayon after a update.
I tried removing the config files, changing the font and I also tyred running it under a different user. But noting worked. gtk mode works fine, but sucks as I'm using windows maker.

OpenSuse 13.1 comes with GTK+ 3.10.6

I solved this (although I don't quite understand why ;-) ) at least for installation from source:
I tried building Audacious several times with no error and always got invisible fonts. At least configure aborted once telling me, there was no GTK found. It ran fine all the times before and when looked for my installed packages, GTK3 and GTK3-devel packages were installed. (so I don't understand the reason for that error)
Anyway, I reinstalled GTK3 and GTK3-devel packages and built Audacious once more, the Winamp-UI works fine since then.
