Speed and Pitch Plugin. Not working?

Added by Ryan Smedley about 5 years ago

I've recently installed Audacious 3.9 onto my Macbook using Homebrew and I'm very impressed with the software!

I really want to use the 'Speed and Pitch' plug-in. I've gone to the Plug-ins menu and ticked the box marked 'Speed and Pitch', but nothing appears to be happening, nor do any additional options appear.

Other forum posts I have seen refer to a 'Settings' button that sounds like it appears after ticking the box of the relevant plug-in, but I am yet to see it.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this a bug or am I just being noob-ish?

None of the above, and your confusion is very understandable.

What happened is that the 'Settings' button is actually an icon (often something like a wrench+gear). On Linux, this comes from the system icon theme, and on Windows, it's shipped in the installer; but on Mac, Audacious 3.9 doesn't know where to find such an icon, and displays nothing.

The easiest solution would be to update to Audacious 3.10.1, which avoids this problem by having an icon set embedded right into the program.

I can't speak to whether or not you will run into other rough edges in the Mac OS port still, since I don't personally test on that platform, but updating should fix this particular problem.

Ah terrific, thank you! Unfortunately, I'm unsure how to install the program without using the 'brew install audacious' command on Terminal, which currently only installs 3.9, so I'm unsure how to install the 'audacious-3.10.1.tar.bz2' package that's available to download directly from the website. Hoping Google will be my friend in figuring this out, or perhaps the Homebrew will eventually install the new version. Thanks mate!

I'm not very familiar with Homebrew, but presumably there is a way to take the "formula" for Audacious [1] and update it yourself for 3.10.1.
