Audacious

So I've been using audacious for quite some time, but until recently I haven't had the luxury of media keys on my keyboard so when I obtained a new keyboard the first thing I did was configure the 'Global hotkeys' plugin. From the looks of many music players, not just software, the play and pause buttons both appear on the same button/key. Even audacious has the button displayed as such! The thing is, for this particular plugin the config allows for two different assignments for the play and the pause. If I choose the same key for both, whatever has the second assignment does not work when pressed. Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?
