At startup / At Random audacious cranks the volume to 100%

For no reason, that I am aware of, Audacious randomly shoots to 100% volume.
To recreate:
Turn audacious on, Play music (rarely happens), skip music (rarely happens).
OS: EndeavourOS Linux x86_64
Kernel: 5.16.16-arch1-1
Sound engine(?): Pipewire, as far as I remember.

Try uninstalling PipeWire and using the ALSA output plugin.

Do you have "pipewire-pulse" installed?
The PulseAudio output plugin of Audacious works fine here with PipeWire.

i have the same problem - Audacious (v4.1) volume increases to 100% seemingly at random or, sometimes, when changing tracks either manually or automatically

  • software volume is not enabled
  • setting the output to alsa or pulse doesn't matter
  • KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4
  • Qt Version: 5.15.3
  • Kernel Version: 5.16.18-1-MANJARO (64-bit)

Are you using PulseAudio or PipeWire on Manjaro?
What is the output of "pactl info"?
